Workshop on Safety and Health in Tanning and Leather Industries

27–28 Enero 2025

The Workshop on Safety and Health in Tanning and Leather Industries, taking place in Turin, Italy, on 27–28 January 2025, is organized by the ITCILO in collaboration with the ILO. This event brings together a bipartite audience from the tanning and leather sector, including representatives from COTANCE (Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community), IndustriALL Europe, as well as workers’ and employers’ delegates from the Americas, Asia, and Africa.

The workshop will promote the exchange of experiences, good practices, and tools to help employers and workers in the tanning and leather industries be better equipped to foster safer, more socially responsible, and sustainable workplaces globally. Through peer-to-peer learning among social partners, participants will explore key topics such as hazardous substance exposure, musculoskeletal disorders, noise control, and emerging sustainability practices. Discussions will also focus on global and regional frameworks, occupational safety and health challenges, and strategies for promoting responsible business conduct and effective social dialogue within the sector.

This activity is funded by the European Commission as part of the ILO-managed project “Advancing decent work in supply chains through sectoral social dialogue”.
