Ms. Jing ZHAO is a young professional with 7 years of experiences working on basic sciences, new emerging sciences and technologies, capacity building, and international cooperation in international organisations, government, and research institutes. In 2021, Ms. Zhao joined UNESCO Headquarters in Paris as a Junior Professional Officer and has since played a key role in advancing UNESCO’s workplans and priorities in basic sciences and engineering. She is currently responsible for coordinating the implementation of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025). In this capacity, Ms. Zhao has led strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and global outreach efforts to promote the transformative potential of quantum science in addressing global challenges. Her work emphasizes on raising the awareness of the important role of quantum science, fostering international collaboration to close the quantum divides, as well as planning and implementing capacity building programmes for women and youth. Ms Jing Zhao holds a master of science degree in environmental health sciences from New York University and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where her research focuses on the role of international organizations in capacity-building projects under the emerging new technologies and climate change adaptation context in Africa.
