Launching the ITCILO Alumni Platform to connect, collaborate and inspire

On December 11, 2024, the ITCILO community celebrated a significant milestone with the launch of its Alumni Network Platform. The online event united a diverse and vibrant group of alumni from across the globe, reflecting the strength and reach of ITCILO’s mission to foster lifelong learning and professional growth.

With over 1,000 attendees on Zoom and hundreds more tuning on via live streaming on ITCILO’s official YouTube channel, the event was a resounding success. This strong turnout highlighted the enthusiasm and loyalty of ITCILO’s alumni, reflecting the importance of the new platform as a hub for professional networking, collaboration, and growth.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Andreas Klemmer, ITCILO’s Director of Training, who emphasized the platform’s significance as a Distinguished Network of Certified Experts in the world of work. Mr. Klemmer stated in his opening that this platform is more than a tool—it’s a space for collaboration, a space for learning, and a space for building bridges across industries and borders.

“This platform enables you to connect, collaborate, and grow your career,” he said. “It’s not just about showcasing your achievements but also about nurturing lifelong learning and building meaningful connections within a global network.”

The event introduced the Alumni Network Platform, an exclusive online space designed to connect ITCILO alumni. In her presentation, Ms. Eiman Elmasry, Quality Assurance & Data Analytics Officer, explained how the platform leverages cutting-edge block-chain based and open badges compliant digital credential technology to support alumni in their professional journeys.

The platform offers a host of benefits:

• Professional exposure: Alumni can showcase their credentials to employers and highlight their career milestones.
• Powerful connections: Members can expand their networks by connecting with peers based on location, industry, or job title.
• Career development: The platform provides exclusive access to career opportunities and resources for continuous growth.
• Community engagement: Alumni can collaborate, share insights, and participate in discussions with like-minded professionals worldwide.

The event celebrated the profound impact of ITCILO’s training programs through alumni contributions. Hundreds of alumni submitted heartfelt speech drafts, sharing their journeys of growth and success. This shows the strong connection alumni have with ITCILO and its values.

Five alumni were selected to deliver their speeches, each representing a unique perspective from ITCILO’s social partners and beneficiaries.

The alumni speeches showcased the profound and far-reaching impact of ITCILO’s training programs on individuals, organizations, and communities worldwide. The speakers highlighted how ITCILO equips its constituents, including employers' organizations, trade unions, and other social partners, with the skills, tools, and confidence to address complex challenges such as workplace inequalities, labour rights, and child protection.

They reflected on the transformative power of dynamic and innovative learning methodologies that make education engaging, accessible, and impactful. Beyond acquiring knowledge, the speeches emphasized the role of ITCILO in fostering a sense of global community—one built on collaboration, lifelong learning, and shared purpose. Together, the stories demonstrated how ITCILO serves as a catalyst for meaningful progress, empowering its alumni to strengthen their organizations, advocate for fair labour practices, and drive sustainable change in the world of work.

The event also recognized outstanding alumni through the presentation of Top Achiever Awards and Top Influencer Awards. These awards celebrated dedication to lifelong learning and influence within the alumni network. Winners were presented with ITCILO Digital Badges, symbolizing their dedication and impact within the alumni network.

5. Mr. Omar Moussa Ali (Djibouti) – 13 certificates

Top Influencer Awards recognized alumni whose shared digital credentials garnered the most views

1. Mr. Mustafa Najm Abdulla Al-Tameemi (Iraq)
2. Ms. Dominique Tudor (Barbados)
3. Mr. Mohamed Dauzkaply Nor Bin Dato Ghazali (Malaysia)

The excitement of the event reached its peak during the live voucher draw, where Mr. Adama Z. Coulibaly, Expert in monitoring and evaluation at GIZ in Mali, was selected as the winner through an online spinning wheel. This interactive moment brought an element of surprise and celebration, as Mr. Coulibaly won the opportunity to enroll in one of ITCILO’s online courses to be delivered in 2025.

Additionally, three fellowships for open courses in 2025 were announced, encouraging alumni to join the platform by the end of 2024 to make part of the raffle that will take place early 2025.

This initiative reflects ITCILO’s commitment to fostering continuous learning and professional development.
