The Specializing Master's programme (1st level) in Technologies for International Development Cooperation is a pioneering academic venture, born from the joint efforts of the Turin School of Development of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) and the Politecnico di Torino. Politecnico di Torino is among the top European Technical Universities for education and research, with a key role on Innovation and Technological transfer, and a strong commitment to knowledge sharing to produce an impact on a complex and rapidly changing society. ITC-ILO, as part of the ILO, is dedicated to explore the frontiers of the future of work. It delivers development-oriented Courses and Masters in an international environment, in collaboration with the United Nations system and other centres of excellence across the globe. The Master is addressed to project managers, officers, experts in Multilateral Cooperation and International Affairs, entrepreneurs, professionals and researchers in international organizations and sector-specific associations, aiming to broaden and enhance their knowledge and skills in managing complex projects, integrating new technologies and leading high-impact initiatives. It uses state-of-the-art technology to prepare them to tackle complex global challenges and transform innovative ideas into tangible, real-world solutions. At the heart of the joint programme is the intersection of technological innovation, global development and international cooperation. The curriculum aims to strategically address the growing need for knowledge and expertise on emerging technologies, their potential to trigger change and the impacts of their implementation on all dimensions of sustainability at the global level. The essence of the programme lies in the belief that technology can be a powerful tool to foster positive global change, to promote inclusive development and to advancing global development cooperation. The programme combines aspects of vision, approach and method, with technicalscientific ones, focusing on five thematic areas (and their intersections) which are considered strategic in the transition towards just and sustainable development: - land and agriculture: dealing with the growing complexity of the agricultural and food system and the implications for land and water resources. - energy and green transition, providing key insights on the challenges and the opportunities that the green transition presents, framed in the international dimension - urban innovation, addressing the multiple and interconnected challenges of cities, whose future will be largely driven by social and technological innovation. - digital technologies, analysing both the regulatory and technical aspects of digital standards which are suitable to boost development - health and social security, identifying the challenges of implementing technologybased public health programmes in resource-limited settings, to address health inequalities and promote sustainable development practices. The course carefully balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, encouraging students to interact, discuss real case studies and engage critically. This programme is not just an academic journey, but a commitment to join a global community focused on international development, offering unique opportunities to interact with cutting-edge technologies and a vibrant network of experts, professionals and academics.

The Master programme is a one-year intensive blended-learning offering, consisting of one distance-learning and five classroom-taught modules. In order to minimize disruption of the participants’ ongoing job obligations at home, full classroom attendance is mandatory for only ten weeks of the programme in person.
The Master merges theoretical and practical learning methodologies that are designed to engage and motivate students. The unique learning path offered by this programme ensures an extraordinary transfer of knowledge and practical competences with a multidisciplinary and applied approach.
Participants interact with their environment through a hands-on learning experience, which includes case studies, workshops, active visits to research centres and labs, group-works and policy laboratories.
In line with the training approach of the Turin School of Development, during the Master course, participants will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from an international faculty. The Master is delivered as a “First level Specializing Master’s programme in Tecnologies for International Development Cooperation”, according to Italian law* on postgraduate education, issued by the Politecnico di Torino. The first level specializing Master will be awarded to the participants who fulfill the following conditions:
This one-year Master programme is intensive by design. It combines three phases: distance learning module, face-to-face component and preparation of the final thesis.
DISTANCE LEARNING PHASE
From 1 November 2024 to 4 April 2025
During this phase, participants will have access to an on-line platform through which they will be given the materials, send their assignments and interact in forums as a class, while receiving advisory support from a dedicated tutor. Assessment will be carried out on a regular basis and upon arrival in Turin.

FACE-TO-FACE PHASE
From 7 April to 13 June 2025
This phase is the core-learning component of the Master. Participants will learn and practice through live classes held by an international faculty. Participation in classes is compulsory; classes are held every day from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3.30 pm. Subjects include:
FINAL PROJECT PHASE
From 14 June to 31 October 2025
Preparation and completion of an original written project work over a period of 19 weeks, focusing on a specific subject or challenge related to technologies and international development cooperation. This final project will be developed through self-directed research in one of the core areas of study. Supervisors will provide guidance and support throughout this phase to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive and original project as a final outcome”.
TUITION FEE
The tuition fee is Euro 9,400. The fee includes:
Board, lodging, travel expenses, transports and personal expenses for the period in Turin are not included in the cost of participation.
PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
A limited number of partial scholarships is available, on a competitive basis, only for participants from countries which receive official development assistance (ODA). Participants who wish to apply for a partial scholarship, are required to specify it on the application form.
The selection criteria for the award of partial scholarships will include academic and professional qualifications, organization, country of origin and gender balance.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants whose degree was awarded by a non-Italian University or by a private Italian University must submit the official transcript(s) issued by their home University. These transcripts should be on letter headed paper and should include a full list of all examinations passed, the marks obtained, the final degree grade and the date of award. Please note: only documents in English or Italian will be accepted.
