Introduction to the course
Decent work is an engine for sustainable development. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a unique opportunity to change things and improve the lives of billions. The 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer opportunities to expand the reach of the Decent Work Agenda and forge new partnerships at country, regional and global levels.
This training programme offers guidance on the relationship between Decent Work and Sustainable Development for constituents, ILO staff, UN country team members, development partners and other stakeholders to support national SDG processes. It supports participants to contribute to the achievement of decent work and related goals of the 2030 Agenda at the national, regional and international levels, based on the integrated approach of the Social Justice Declaration.

What topics does the course cover?
The course covers the following topics:
- The 2030 Agenda, the linkages with the Decent Work Agenda and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the national level
- SDG frameworks and processes (Cooperation Framework, Common Country Assessment, Voluntary National Review)
- Specific challenges and strategies to improve inclusion of those left behind
- Good practices and case studies on the advancement of the Decent Work- Sustainable Development nexus
What will I be able to do?
At the end of the training programme, participants will be able to:
- Advocate for decent work and the concept of leaving no one behind as it applies to women, migrants, youth, refugees, people with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, and indigenous and tribal peoples
- Play an active role in national sustainable development decision making bodies and SDG monitoring mechanism
- Influence UN programming and planning at the country level
- Propose and advocate key strategies for workers, employers within the UN framework of cooperation
- Design and conduct structured discussions around the centrality of employment and decent work in national planning and policy sessions at the stages of formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
