Introduction to the course

In a time of health crisis, the importance of promoting occupational safety and health has become central for both organisations and individuals. In addition, travel restrictions and physical distancing have accelerated the use of online learning. The new self-learning course on Essentials in Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) provides an effective response to these needs by combining an interactive online training package with engaging OSH modules for organisations and individuals. At the end of the course, participants will be able to test their knowledge and get the ITCILO Certificate of Participation.

Who attends this course?

The course is designed as a self-learning programme, where everyone interested in OSH, particularly OSH supervisors and line managers in companies, in ministries, or any other institution interested in enhancing safety and health at work. The course is aimed at everyone who wants to strengthen their knowledge about the essentials of occupational safety and health. The online course is suited for trainers and advisers in OSH belonging to organizations involved in the promotion of OSH within enterprises. The programme is also relevant for people from professional or industrial bodies, training institutions involved in OSH issues, and, above all, managers, supervisors, and technical staff in charge of OSH within enterprises. In case the EOSH programme is available in one of the employers and business members' organisations that have been certified by the ITCILO to deliver the EOSH training service, participants will be redirected to these organizations

The 29 modules are offered in an engaging and interactive online format, where users can have a dynamic learning experience, with online activities, videos, and additional resources.

Eye-catching infographics present the content and material with a cutting-edge approach, while memory aids & animations make the learning process fresh and playful.

The EOSH package is designed to be used from computers, tablets and mobile phones and is always accessible, even with low bandwidth connections.

The EOSH package is offered at a competitive price that facilitates access to the training and promotes best practices for a healthy and safe workplace.

Participants taking the EOSH training will be able to access the full set of 29 Modules until the end of the year. Once the modules are completed, they will take a final exam.

Participants that pass the exam, will get the Certificate of Participation of the ITCILO, internationally recognized as a certificate of the UN Agency specialized in occupational safety and health.

Objectives

Participants will be able to consolidate their knowledge of OSH issues related to risk assessment, management of prevention, managing health crises and COVID-19.

They will also be able to deepen their understanding of specific OSH themes and risks, including electricity, fire and explosions, and other modules in the package.

Contents and methodology

Participants will have access to the eCampus online platform with all the 29 training modules available to them.

The training programme is delivered as self-learning, allowing participants to choose when to engage in the platform and choose when to take the modules, according to their availability.

No assignment is required throughout the training programme, except for the completion of the modules.

Language, date and duration

The online programme is delivered in English.

You can start the EOSH course whenever you want, as it will be open until 15 December 2024.

The course has an estimated duration of 60 hours of study, and the recommended number of weeks to complete the training is 9 weeks. However, you can choose the timeline that works for you: ultimately you are in charge!

Exam and certificate

When all the modules are completed, participants will be able to take the final exam.

The final exam is composed of multiple-choice questions based on the content of the 29 Modules.

To pass the exam, the required mark is 60%. Only successful participants that meet the passing grade of the exam will be able to get the ITCILO Certificate of Participation.
