This Micro-learning tackles the pressing need for sustainable practices in investment projects and inclusive development.  With climate change, ecosystem degradation, and social inequalities posing significant challenges, sustainable solutions are essential to securing lasting benefits for communities, economies, and the environment. Strengthening partnerships and fostering knowledge exchange within and across regions is crucial to promoting environmental and social sustainability.

Who attends this course?

Project Management Unit staff; senior government officials assigned to project oversight; national staff from ministries of agriculture, environment and other relevant sectors; ESC regulatory bodies, ESC consultants; contractors; and non-sovereign operations, and all those who are interested in learning about the Environmental, Social and Climate standards and their meaningful impact in the investment projects.

What will I learn?

You will learn about Environmental, Social, and Climate Standards (SECAP) and their role in promoting sustainability, equity, and resilience in IFAD-supported projects. The micro-learning covers ESC standards such as biodiversity conservation, resource efficiency, pollution prevention, cultural heritage, indigenous peoples’ rights, labor conditions, community health and safety, resettlement, financial intermediaries, and climate change. You will also gain insights into sustainable practices in agriculture and rural development, helping you understand integrated solutions for environmental and social challenges.
