Introduction to the course

The TREE programme is designed to build on existing job-creating programmes of the government and NGOs, make those programmes more effective, and fill in gaps where programmes are weak or do not exist. This self-guided module will bring value to rural development work you do and will strengthen the relevance of any initiative you are undertaking. The course was developed under the project “Improved and Market-based provision of Vocational Training for Lebanese and Refugees” and has a specific focus on how the TREE methodology has been adapted to the Lebanese context.

Who attends this course?
  • Technical staff of ministries working in TVET and skills development, education
  • Experts and technical staff from NGOs and other civil society actors working in the field of rural employment and/or TVET
  • Teachers and trainers of formal and non-formal TVET, tutors
  • Project managers and implementing partners of skills development programmes project managers and implementing partners of skills development programmes
  • Representatives of workers' and employers' organisations involved in the implementation of in the implementation of TVET.
What will I learn?
  • Identifying the set of processes of the ILO TREE Methodology
  • Understanding the rational and steps by which TREE is being adapted to the Lebanese context
  • Analysing the key elements of the TREE methodology pertaining to the establishment of an organizational framework at the national and local level
  • Understanding how the TREE process of institutions organization and planning could be conducted in Lebanon
  • Identifying the potential economic opportunities within the community through Survey of community profile, Consumer demand survey, Market opportunity survey and Feasibility studies
  • Determine what skills are required and assess the training needs of men and women who are potentially interested to take up these opportunities
What will I be able to do?

The self-paced course give you the basic tools that are needed to plan, design and implement a implementation of a national program based on the TREE methodology in its three levels of macro, meso and micro levels of intervention.

How is the course organized?

The Fast Track will take you about 45 minutes. The Regular Track will take you about 90 minutes.

Why should I join?

This course if free and self-paced, it includes knowledge assessment throughout the sessions and includes relevant readings on how to supports rural development. Once you successfully pass the final quiz (70% of correct answers) you can obtain a Certificate of Completion detailing your name and title of the e-learning course.
