In today's interconnected global economy, understanding the legal dimensions of geoeconomics, subsidies, and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) is crucial. These elements significantly impact international trade law, shaping policies and regulatory frameworks worldwide. The face-to-face training course, Trade and Geoeconomics, offers a sophisticated and interactive learning environment, combining expert-led discussions, in-depth case studies, and collaborative workshops. Participants will develop a deep understanding of the legal mechanisms driving global economic strategies and the regulatory frameworks governing subsidies and SOEs within the context of international trade. Delivered in an environment that fosters networking and collaboration, the course provides a unique platform to engage directly with leading experts and professionals from diverse sectors worldwide. The programme will explore the influence of geoeconomic strategies on international relations, examine the legal and regulatory complexities of subsidies, and analyse the roles and implications of SOEs in shaping economic and legal landscapes. This course is designed for: Legal professionals, consultants, practitioners, and managers with substantial experience in international trade law. Senior officials with significant experience in the public or private sectors, United Nations agencies, foundations, or NGOs. Specialists working in corporate legal departments, governmental bodies, international organisations, or academic and research institutions who wish to deepen their expertise in international trade law.

Learning objectives

The training course aims to:

  • Provide a legal perspective on geoeconomics and its role in the global economy.
  • Examine the impact of subsidies within international trade.
  • Explore the structure, functions, and regulatory implications of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
  • Analyse the intersection of geoeconomics, subsidies, and SOEs with international trade law and regulations.
Methodology

This is an intensive, one-week course requiring full participation and active engagement. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, at the ITCILO Campus in Turin. Participants will benefit from the guidance and expertise of dedicated coordinators and tutors.

The participation fee, excluding international travel costs, is EUR 2,545, payable in advance by the participant or their sponsoring organisation. This fee covers tuition, access to the eCampus platform, use of training facilities and support services, course materials, accommodation and full board at the Centre’s Campus, and emergency medical insurance.
