At the Learning Innovation Programme of the ITCILO, we have been providing instructional design, moderation, and facilitation services for years, making learning events more engaging in any format. This tailor-made training focuses on gamification in learning and training. You will gain essential knowledge and useful tools on how to use and implement game elements in your training. What will I learn?

This course will equip the participants with expertise on the concept of gamification and its role in fostering active participation. They will be able to identify strategies for incorporating gamification elements into learning activities to enhance engagement and motivation. In addition, participants will explore a variety of technologies, including touching upon latest evolution in AI and VR, that can be utilized to enhance the design and development of learning activities in both blended and virtual environments. Finally, they will develop proficiency in digital facilitation techniques for synchronous learning sessions, with an emphasis on creating a playful yet inclusive learning environment.

What is the course methodology?

The training methodology is designed to deliver a dynamic and immersive learning experience, tailored to the specific needs and working practices of the organization requesting it. The training can be delivered entirely online, fully physical at ITCILO Innovation Lab or in a blended format.

Course Structure

See below sample structure for a blended-learning format:

Phase 1: Online Orientation Phase (1 week, synchronous/asynchronous, online)

The participants embark on their learning journey through an online orientation module, providing a comprehensive overview of the training objectives, methodologies, and main content. This phase acquaints learners with the virtual learning environment, fostering a sense of community and setting the stage for collaborative engagement.

Phase 2: Face-to-Face Phase (2 days, physical)

The core of the training unfolds during a face-to-face phase, where participants gather in a physical setting conducive to interactive learning and hands-on exploration of tools and techniques. Through experiential activities, case studies, and group discussions, learners deepen their understanding of gamification techniques and tools in blended learning while honing their facilitation skills under expert guidance.

Phase 3: Follow-Up Online Phase (+- 10 days, asynchronous, online)

Building upon the insights gained during the face-to-face phase, the training culminates in a follow-up online phase designed to reinforce learning outcomes and support continued professional development. This phase offers opportunities for coaching and peer collaboration, ensuring sustained engagement and application of newly acquired knowledge and skills.

Who are the trainers?

The training for this course will be conducted by a team of highly experience and certified international facilitators from the ITCILO Learning Innovation Programme.
