This course provides knowledge and skills for improving reporting on the application, in law and in practice, of ratified ILO Conventions.

  • Government officials responsible for reporting on the application of ratified ILO Conventions.
  • Representatives of employers' and workers' organizations involved in reporting activities.
What topics does this course cover?
  • ILO reporting background.
  • Reports on ratified Conventions: types, forms, content, communication to and consultations with representative organizations of employers and workers, periodicity, exceptions, calendar of action and challenges.
  • Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR).
  • Conference Committee on the Application of Standards (CAS).
What will I gain from the course?
  • Background knowledge of the ILO and its ILS system.
  • Detailed and updated knowledge of the role and operation of reporting in the ILS system.
  • Knowledge of how to use the databases and resources relevant to ILS reporting.
  • Capacity to prepare (or participate in the preparation of) the reports on the application, in law and in practice, of ratified ILO Conventions owed by member States under the ILO Constitution.

 

How is the course organized?
  • Approximately 6 hours of work per week.
  • 10 self-guided substantive sessions, with two sessions to be completed each week, combined with live webinars and e-coaching sessions.
  • A tutor follows your progress.
  • Knowledge assessment at the start and at the end of the training.
  • A unique assignment consisting in drafting a report on the application of a ratified ILO Convention.
  • Course content relies on interactive materials, including videos and screencasts of NORMLEX database, multiple-choice and short answer quizzes, a discussion forum and live webinars (individually and in plenary).
